Software Engineer

Job Summary

The digital platform group is looking to hire talented Software Engineers that have a passion for building distributed systems in a microservice architecture. Our charge is to create a platform and a set of shared services, patterns, and libraries to accelerate our application development teams by reducing technical debt and burden.

To accomplish this, we are looking for developers with a technical background in microservice architecture and distributed systems. The commonly shared microservices on the platform are expected to be built mostly in Typescript on Node.js. The platform will also need to accommodate services written in other languages, especially PHP and Python. The patterns and libraries will require multi-language approaches to accommodate the needs of the various teams. Client-side technologies on both web and mobile are a benefit, but the focus of this position will be on the back-end infrastructure and systems.

Responsibilities

• Work with the Director of Architecture to establish best practices and then translate those into code patterns and libraries for the development teams to adopt.
• Build, test, document, and maintain tooling for our development teams to use to optimize and enhance their devel

opment process including maintaining a common CI/CD pipeline.

• Build, test, document, and maintain centralized infrastructure-level shared services to cover various common technology like authorization, authentication, and messaging.
• Work with our development teams to find common domain-specific business logic (especially in the health care and clinical trial domains) and generalize that logic to cover additional use cases and accelerate other development teams that may benefit from it.
• Work with our product team to help drive out technical requirements for business initiatives and estimate story complexity.

Requirements
