Job Description:

We build open source software that addresses the operational and security challenges of managing cloud native platforms like Kubernetes, while providing DevOps teams with integrated tools for running containerized workloads. Our flagship product Rancher Manager has over 100 million downloads to date and is managing mission critical services at Fortune 500 companies and many other organizations large and small around the world.

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our team and help build innovative open source software in the cloud native ecosystem. As part of the SUSE Rancher team, you will explore new solutions and approaches to solve complex customer issues. You will be a leading player in delivering solutions enriching the user experience of cloud native platforms based on Kubernetes and alleviating complexity for people running containerized workloads.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience

Knowledge and Skills:

• Experience with containers and container orchestration solutions
• Hands-on software development experience in a variety of programming languages
• Experience and/or interest in Agile methodologies
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to effectively communicate product architectures and design proposals
• Deep knowledge of Go and Kubernetes

Bonus qualifications:

• Experience with development of cloud native applications
• Performance instrumentation, analysis and tuning
• Experience and/or interest in Test Driven Development (TDD)
• Experience with open source development
• Experience with cloud computing and distributed systems
• Experience working with a distributed team. You will be expected to engage with team members across many time zones and cultures.
